Guitar Center Product Specialist Visit

gcenterSixteen Guitar Center Product Specialists from throughout the United States visited the Martin Factory October 4 and 5, 2006, for two days of instruction, tours and exchange. The Product Specialists have the challenging role of keeping their sales force informed and trained on each product in their inventory. Most of the attendees have never been to the factory, and District Sales Managers Craig Yamek and Dave Evans were intent on providing them with an exceptional Martin experience.

Artist Relations Director Dick Boak took the group on a sightseeing trip to the original Cherry Hill home and brief tour of the North Street homestead and original Martin factory. Chris Martin then offered his unique perspective of his family’s business while touring the new Martin Museum and Visitors Center.

Martin Custom Shop, Quality Assurance and Sales and Marketing representatives all added insight into the guitar building process, and the Product Specialists were impressed with the teamwork and efficiency displayed throughout the plant. They also commented positively on the balance of new world technology with genuine old world craftsmanship.

Martin Guitar is grateful for the opportunity to work so closely with professionals who are directly responsible for the way our guitars and strings are represented on the sales floor. It was a pleasure to have them here.

Martin Wins Nine Awards

Presented by Acoustic Guitar Magazine, the prestigious Players' Choice Awards for 2006 were given to the companies with the most votes in each category.

Players' Choice Award winners are voted by the people who are out there using the products and making music, not doled out by the editors or "experts in the field." This being the case, the awards go to product lines in most instances and not to individual products.

Each category consists of gold, silver and bronze award winners. C. F. Martin & Co. has won nine awards in the categories listed below.

Musikmesse Frankfurt 2007

Frankfurt07Frankfurt, Germany - Europe’s biggest musical instrument trade show has many similarities to the NAMM shows we attend in the United States. It offers a centralized location to meet with our International Distributors, display our latest products and discover other opportunities (ideas, information, designs, etc.) that may find their way into future guitar models and string sets.

Musikmesse offers something NAMM doesn’t offer – a day that is open to the public. The venue is huge -- ten different buildings, most two or three stories high – jammed with people from around the world who have made a concerted effort to get there by bus, train or plane. Transportation is available between venues and visitors are willing to pay 38 euros (approximately $50 USD) for admission.

The Martin booth was constantly busy for all four days. Recognizable international guitarists like Jacques Stotzem, Diane Ponzio, John Goldie and Paolo Giordano perform on Martin guitars in the isles, offering a rare opportunity to see these players close up. Many visitors shared their Martin story or stories, far too many to list. Most are ecstatic to see so many Martin guitars in one place and when given the proverbial “keys to the candy store” they humble us with their enthusiasm. Music – the universal language – helps bring all of us together.

At the Martin booth, people dream. Maybe they connect with the history, the tradition, the quality. One thing we can tell for sure is that we understand their feelings because we take pride knowing we’re Martin fans, just like them.

Winter NAMM 2007 Giant Musical Instrument Trade Show

show107Opening day at the Anaheim Convention Center was well attended, and the brand new Martin booth was very busy. The Winter NAMM Show (January 18-21) enables us to introduce our latest products and programs made available to the Music Industry.

At this show we introduced 20 new models, 13 one-of-a-kind guitar models and numerous Custom Shop showcase guitars.

Throughout the day, attendees were treated to musical performances by Martin artist Laurence Juber, Martin clinicians Dix Bruce and Jim Nunally as well as Hollywood recording studio mainstays Jim Fox and Bob Bain. Longtime Martin owner and Signature Edition artist, Nancy Wilson also made an appearance at the Martin booth.

Nazareth, PA - To coincide with the Anaheim show, Martin visitors and employees were treated to a special unveiling of the new instruments which were displayed in the Visitors Center lobby January 18-24, 2007.

Pleasantville, NY - C. F. Martin & Co. of Nazareth, Pennsylvania has been named "Best of America - Entertainment category" by the editors of Reader's Digest magazine. This celebration of the quirky, amazing and truly extraordinary is featured in the May issue, on newsstands April 17, 2007.

After speaking to hundreds of experts and ordinary folk, the editors tested, tasted and debated everything from the Best Gotta-Have-It Brownie to the Best Lasting Logo to the Best Athlete's Feat. The resulting list covers the Arts, Media, Business & Finance, Health, Food, Science & Technology, Society & Culture, Sports & Fitness, Transportation, Travel and more.
