C.F. Martin & Co Announces New Board of Directors Member
Tara Stephenson, Principal of The Woodward Group, invited to join board of legendary American guitar manufacturer
Nazareth, PA – C.F. Martin & Co., the family-owned Nazareth, PA-based manufacturer of acoustic guitars and strings, has announced the addition of Tara Stephenson to their Board of Directors. Stephenson, Principal of the respected investment firm The Woodward Group, brings with her a robust knowledge of finance, building corporate value and a personal affection for the Martin brand.
“We chose Tara for the guidance and expertise that we are sure she will bring to our organization,” said Chris Martin, Chairman & CEO of C.F. Martin & Co. “Her business acumen and stellar contributions to many well-respected Pennsylvania organizations are what drew our attention to her as the ideal choice to join our Board of Directors.”
“I am honored to have been chosen to join the Board of Directors of Martin Guitar,” said Stephenson. "I hope to be able to do my part to ensure that Martin continues to capture all of the best opportunities available to increasing their already impressive market share.”
Stephenson prides herself on her love of music, passing this attribute onto her children – both of her sons play string instruments and one is a composer. But her appointment to the Martin Board of Directors is, of course, based on her business experience.
Stephenson joined The Woodward Group in 1996 during which time she advised on transactions aggregating in excess of $19 billion in value, including mergers and acquisitions, placements of senior and subordinated debt and equity, and valuations for corporations in a wide range of businesses.
Before joining The Woodward Group, Stephenson was a founding member of Berwind Financial Group, an investment banking firm specializing in mergers and acquisitions and merchant banking. She has also previously served as Vice President of investment banking at CoreStates Financial Corporation.
Stephenson is a graduate of Georgetown University, where she earned a B.S.F.S. in International Economics; and has an M.B.A. from Northwestern University J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management. In addition to her work on the Board of Directors of C.F. Martin & Co., Stephenson is also a Trustee and Chair of the Audit Committee of the Presbytery of Philadelphia; and a member of the Audit Committee of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. She has been named to both the Philadelphia Business Journal “40 Under 40” list; as well as Business Philadelphia’s “Women to Watch”.
