C. F. Martin & Co. (www.martinguitar.com) has today announced the launch of its completely redesigned website, martinguitar.com. Liquid Interactive, a global interactive marketing agency based in Breningsville, PA, was selected to redesign the site in October 2011. The re-design includes the addition of a Guitar Finder feature, allowing easy access to a list of official Martin dealers; an updated 1833 shop e-commerce portal; updated information about the Martin Custom Shop; a more comprehensive database of instrument and string choices; and the official Martin Guitar blog featuring news about the company's offerings as well as the music industry in general.
Hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood is a tranquil, woodsy neighborhood called Laurel Canyon. This small community, where the homes literally cling to steep canyon walls, occupies a special place in American music history.
From the mid-'60s to the mid-'70s, the bands and artists living and working here crafted a sound that still resonates today. It's best described as a blend of folk, rock and pop mixed with bright California sunshine. Laurel Canyon was where Crosby, Stills and Nash first harmonized. It was where Joni Mitchell fused poetry and music. It was where the Mamas & the Papas moved folk closer to pop. James Taylor and Carole King helped the singer-songwriter movement take root in Laurel Canyon. Jim Morrison called the place home. So did Gram Parsons and Brian Wilson.
The distinctive music created by the cross-pollination of talent in Laurel Canyon continues to inspire. John Mayer, an artist who usually cites the electric blues as an influence, felt a deep connection to this special sound.
