National Guitar Workshop

New Milford, CT - Joel Zingone, a CNC Operator at C. F. Martin & Co., had heard about the National Guitar Workshop and thought it would be "cool" to go. He never dreamed he would get the chance. That opportunity happened in the way of C. F. Martin's affiliation with the week-long workshop. Because of Martin's sponsorship, one student's tuition is complimentary. Joel, an intermediate guitar player, was apprehensive, but inquired anyway, expecting skill to decide attendance. Instead, he was chosen and got the week of a lifetime.

Since 1984, the National Guitar Workshop, a premier music camp, has proudly educated musicians of all ages. NGW's outstanding faculty, combined with its highly developed curriculum, makes every week at the Workshop a unique and exceptional learning experience.

Joel's day was filled with classes, clinics and concerts. Top notch instructors including jazz legend and Martin Guitar clinician Joe Beck, were in residence. Joel was impressed by the diversity of styles represented. Ideas and concepts were abundant. He was also impressed by the talent level of the staff: their level of knowledge, communication ability, approachability and also with their professionalism. He was never made to feel intimidated by his skill level.

Joel was thrilled - he felt like a goodwill ambassador for Martin Guitar. Students were of all ages and Joel made friends easily. "My name is Joel and I work at Martin Guitar" was a good ice breaker with hundreds of guitar players around.

He needs some time to take it all in, but he definitely feels like he progressed as a guitar player. Would he love to go next year? "Yes, I was honored and privileged to have attended, I didn't want to leave."
