Nazareth, PA - The 5th annual Martin Owners Club Event and the 9th annual Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum (UMGF) Event were held August 6th. More than 1,600 guests gathered for the fun-filled day at the Martin factory campus. The dynamic of combining both groups created a new level of excitement and energy. Employees gave factory tours throughout the day. The weather was delightful as visitors and Martin employees enjoyed the day's activities, including musical performances, demonstrations, clinics, a children's program, and a catered lunch under the main tent. Chris Martin addressed the group for about an hour, giving details about the business, then spoke to many individually as he autographed guitars and other items.
Musical performances included Martin Clinician Craig Thatcher, young pop sensation Suite Caroline, Moravian College guitar instructor John Arnold, American Idol semi-finalist Tyler Grady (Nazareth native) with Travis Hobbie, both of Wailing Waters, smokin' hot bluegrass band Heavy Traffic and special musical guest, The Rowan Cunningham Band.
At the South Tent, String Division Director of Sales and Marketing Tim McNair spoke on the all-new Martin SP Lifespan strings; Fishman representative Joe Barbieri demonstrated the Sonitone, Presys Plus and F1 electronics systems; Martin technician Albert Germick demonstrated the Roland AP-1 electronic system; Tom Dougherty from TKL Cases shared insights into guitar case history, construction, care tips and future designs; and Musical Therapist Amy Germick presented a children's program. The traveling Martin Player's Tent with exquisite, one-of-a-kind Martin custom guitars and brand-new 2010 stock model offerings proved to be a popular gathering spot. Craftsman Dale Eckhart demonstrated brace-shaping techniques for the period-correct Authentic Series. Later in the afternoon, Customer Service Manager Carmen Cortez and master repairperson Dave Doll hosted a Q & A session with the experts.
