Government Acknowledgements of the Company's 175th Anniversary Charles W. Dent
NAZARETH, PA - On Wednesday, March 19, 2008, Congressman Charles W. Dent visited Martin Guitar to congratulate the Company on its 175th anniversary of manufacturing in America. Congressman Dent was elected to Congress in November, 2004, and represents Pennsylvania's 15th District, which includes all of Northampton and parts of Lehigh, Montgomery, and Berks counties.
During the visit, the Congressman presented a proclamation to C. F. Martin, IV celebrating the Company's 175th anniversary, and then met with members of the Martin Executive Team for a roundtable discussion. After a photo opportunity in the Company's Museum, a tour of the manufacturing facility was conducted by Scott Follweiler, a 10-year employee of Martin Guitar and classmate of the Congressman at William Allen High School in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Congressman Dent was highly impressed with the tour and the mix of hands-on craftsmanship and technology.
On April 23, 2008, Congressman Dent read the proclamation during the House Floor Proceedings of the United States House of Representatives. This reading was broadcast on C-SPAN and can be accessed at www.c-spanarchives.org. In addition to Congressman Dent's visit, the Company has also received well wishes from Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao. Future visits from other local, state, and federal government officials are being planned.
