D-18 Authentic 1937
D-18 Authentic 1937
1937 is widely regarded as one of the finest years in Martin’s history—a moment when craftsmanship, innovation, and premium materials came together to shape what would become legendary instruments. The D-18 Authentic 1937 is built to the same specifications as those iconic guitars, using hide glue construction and historically accurate detailing throughout. It features genuine mahogany back and sides paired with an Adirondack spruce top, and an Authentic 1937 forward-shifted scalloped bracing pattern for a dry, punchy tone with remarkable clarity. The body profile is modeled after Dreadnoughts from the early Golden Era, offering enhanced historical accuracy. Other period-correct features include an Authentic-style neck barrel and heel, as well as traditional 18-style appointments. Martin’s Vintage Tone System® (VTS) is used to thermally age both the top and braces, capturing the rich, open sound of a well-preserved pre-war instrument. Built by hand with a deep respect for tradition, the D-18 Authentic 1937 delivers the tone, feel, and aesthetic of a vintage classic—without the decades-long wait.
