Los Angeles, CA - Ace Hotel continues our live music series 5 at 5 where we, with help from our friends at FYF, Martin Guitar and Show Cobra, invite some of our favorite artists to do their thing at Ace Hotel New York or Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles.
This time, we are kicking off FYF weekend with live music at Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles. On Friday, August 21 at 5 pm, Philadelphia's enigmatic indie outfit Hop Along plays a five-song set on the roof for 5 at 5 before making their way onto the stage for FYF Fest Sunday. USA Today described the freak-folk-cum-indie-punk sound as blending "story-songs with emotive vocals, jangly guitars and driving beats." Friends and passersby can join us on the roof for a playful, raucous evening of music.
This event is free and open to the public.

About Hop Along
Hop Along has had multiple lives. First conceptualized as a freak-folk solo act by Frances Quinlan, it progressed towards a fuller sound with the addition of Mark Quinlan on drums, Tyler Long on bass and Joe Reinhart (Algernon Cadwallader, Dogs on Acid) on guitar. Emerging as one of music’s most unique songwriters, the captivating vignettes Frances has weaved tell vivid stories of desperation and weary awakening. Her powerful voice is a spellbinding entity all it’s own, celebratory and raw, and one that can’t be shaken away.
Upon the release of the band's critically acclaimed Painted Shut on May 5th via Saddle Creek, the record garnered national attention. The band has become a staple on the mid-year "Best of 2015" lists, including Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, SPIN, NPR, Alternative Press, Stereogum, Paste, and VICE's Noisey.
About Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles
Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles makes its home in the historic United Artists building in Downtown LA. Built in 1927 for the maverick film studio, the ornate, storied and vibrant Theatre and the 14-story Spanish Gothic office tower that fronts it have been lovingly retrofitted into a modern hotel — enlivening the building's historical soul with the scrupulous attention to detail that Ace has built its reputation on. It's the kind of project that we dream about, and we're honored to stand as a spiritual anchor at the heart of the Broadway Theater District’s vibrant modern renaissance.
